Internet Lead Generation

I got a lot of questions on my previous post "How to drive leads to your website". So in case you didn't get it...

It's okay, you don't have to think it's funny to understand. Anyone who connects with the short video will probably visit the web site mentioned at the end. If you noticed, once you get to YouTube, they posted 3 very short videos in a series designed to connect with those who are unhappy in a business partnership. If you went to their site (which I also think is a riot!), you quickly learn what they do...buy out people who are unhappy in their current partnership. Imagine yourself in that type of business. Just like real estate, you'd need a constant stream of leads to find the ones you'd actually want to work with. Instead of advertising online, they created a video, posted it on YouTube for free and then let it spread. Maybe you didn't connect because you weren't their target...but it's still a good example of what the web can do for lead generation.

Faster & Harder

Anyone who thinks Texas is flat never ran through the center of Austin. Last month's race was very flat...yesterday the course was full of hills. Eating right the night before this time helped me shave one full minute from the clock, even with a more difficult course. Official results for my second half-marathon:

Has the world become more and more unprofessional or have people just compeletly lost control of their own actions? Maybe people are being bombarded with more messages than they can handle?

Here's an observation:

73 = # of outgoing calls I made last week
4 = # of calls returned. And no folks I was not cold calling.

Maybe one of the easiest ways to set youself apart from competition and show you care is to pick up the phone and reach out to someone. If you just can't seem to get things done...scroll down a little and click on the book cover for "Getting Things Done". In two weeks it transformed me from a very messy desk person to an eternally spotless desk person.

How to drive leads to your website

It's only a matter of time before more Realtors catch on to viral type videos that spread and generate leads through the web.

Tech Illiteracy

What is a blog? What is RSS? What is a podcast? Is it acceptable to be unable to text message? Anyone who keeps up with technology knows the frustration I'm talking about when someone you're trying to communicate with doesn't know how to text or can never seem to open that attachment. But the bigger question is: If your customers choose to communicate with you in ever changing and more advanced ways, is it acceptable for you not to keep up?

Keep it Real(estate)

Now that is a FRO! The folks in Australia and the UK are at it again. This is from the latest ad campaign for their Realtor.com equivalent. In the first commercial, Wilson stands up from a couch and his hair is chopped off by a ceiling fan. Now, he's a cult icon in those parts of the world. Silly fun for a Saturday, click on Wilson Cul-de-Sac's fro. Keep it real(estate), yo.

3M Half - 1:50:28

Here's what NOT to do the day before your first half marathon. Take a pretty tough spin class in the morning, entertain family in the evening and have a huge plate of meatloaf! I'm questioning my sanity even admitting in public that I ate meatloaf but there it is. And needless to say, it was still with me as I ran. YUCK (and painful)!

However, even with that and a starting temperature of 28 degrees, which might as well be the artic for a Texan, it was a fantastic race and left me feeling alive and accomplished. The time, which admidately needs work, put me in the top quarter of finishers. For sure, one step closer to Ironman. Next up is the AT&T Half Marathon in February and then March is the beginning of triathlon season. Guess I better get my butt in the pool! ;)
